The Linux builds bundle their own WebKitGTK and mpv but expect the host to provide libsystemd, which obviously falls apart on a machine that doesn't have it. Same for the AppImage, tarball, deb, rpm and the AUR package. Two options. The Flatpak runs fine without systemd on the host, since its runtime carries libsystemd inside the sandbox. Or build from source, which sidesteps this completely, because your own webkit and dbus aren't linked against libsystemd to begin with. You need the Flutter SDK for that, but it's the same kind of setup as any other build dep: https://github.com/Moonfin-Client/Moonfin-Core/wiki/Building-from-Source Skip the snap, snapd wants systemd itself. Which distro are you on? |

# Install Java

sudo xbps-install openjdk25
# Select Java version
sudo xbps-alternatives -s openjdk25
# Get flutter code

sudo gpasswd -a $USER flutter (add self to flutter group)
sudo chown -R :flutter /opt/flutter
sudo chmod -R g+w /opt/flutter/
- Add the following to .bashrc
export FLUTTER_ROOT="/opt/flutter/"
export PATH="$PATH:$FLUTTER_ROOT/bin"
- Run up a shell with the new $PATH definitions, then
flutter --version (this downloads and installs the dart SDK)
dart --version (verify that the dark SDK is in place)
- Install stuff for Moonfin (I already had quite a bit of this, but
just for anyone else wanting to try this)
sudo xbps-install gtk+3-devel (this drags in loads of crap)
sudo xbps-install mpv-devel (ditto)
sudo xbps-install libwebkit2gtk41-devel
sudo xbps-install libsecret-devel
sudo xbps-install sqlite-devel
sudo xbps-install ninja
sudo xbps-install clang
sudo xbps-install pkg-config

So.... sub-optimal :-)
I also ran (as suggested above) flutter pub outdated and this printed a
very long list of libraries with versions that are not as expected (at
least, that's what I think it's telling me). In which case, this might be
too broken for me to fix (the machine I'm using is in general use and I'm
not in a position to start messing about with library versions too much
because other things will break)

Uh oh!
There was an error while loading. Please reload this page.
I tried to run Moonfin but it complains about a lack of libsystemd.so.0 and my Linux doesn't use systemd
Is there any workaround for this?
