Features

v0.9.0-rc1 Pre-Release

• Published Fiber v0.9.0-rc1, the first release candidate for the v0.9 line. Key updates include enhanced stability, routing, external funding, transport preference, logging, and dependency updates. Full changelog.

Unified Migration System

• Merged and implemented the unified migration system as a clearer framework for future database and protocol upgrades. It is also a foundational component for the v0.9 release track.

Fiber-Powered Agent Demo

• Released fiber-pay v0.2.5 and published a write-up on the calling-agent demo : A Paid AI Agent Calling Experiment via Fiber. The demo shows a browser-based AI agent call flow settled through Fiber payments, serving as a reference for integrating Fiber into browser-based web applications.

Improvements & Fixes

Network Actor Stability

• Merged updates (channel: keep actors alive across disconnects #1217) to keep channel actors alive across peer disconnects. This advances the network actor hot-path refactoring and closes the related design-tracking issue (NetworkActor decoupling design #1290) for decoupling the Network Actor, resolving a bottleneck where too many messages would slow down the system.

Funding Flow Observability

• Added debug and trace logs across the channel funding flow: add debug and trace logs across funding flow #1312, making funding failures easier to diagnose during testing and user support.

WASM / Browser Testing Feedback

• Continued validation of Fiber dapp and WASM testnet demo with the acceptance team. Following a user report (Cannot pay invoice #1315), we identified an invoice issue where the route builder rejected invoices for channels with zero local balance due to insufficient outbound liquidity.

Release Pipeline Fixes

• Fixed release Docker RC architecture tags: Fix release Docker rc architecture tags #1343.
• Fixed generated migration path escaping on Windows: fix: escape generated migration paths on Windows #1345, improving cross-platform release and migration robustness.

In Pipeline

v0.9.0 Finalization

• Completing the v0.9 milestone to move from RC1 to a stable release. As of this log, v0.9 remains open after the rc1 pre-release.

x402 End-to-End Demo

• Finalizing the x402 demo flow from resource request, Fiber invoice payment, verification, and settlement. The x402 facilitator MVP (add x402 facilitator MVP and payment preimage proof support #1301) and payment preimage proof support remain under review, while the paid blog demo migration is being used as an integration test path.

CCH Multi-Asset Swap

• Polishing and reviewing the Cross-Chain Hub (CCH) multi-asset swap implementation (feat!(cch): CCH multi-asset swap #1257), including proposal acceptor work and adoption of the new migration design.

Security and Panic-path Hardening

• Follow up on external bug reports and security reviews. Current hardening PRs include invalid invoice parsing (Fix: prevent panic on invalid invoice parsing #1347) and invalid UTF-8 P2P parsing fixes (Fix a remote panic path in P2P parsing when contains invalid UTF-8 #1348).

WASM, Browser, and Wallet Integration

• Continue reducing blockers for WASM/browser usage and web-facing Fiber applications. This aligns with the current Fiber cycle goals of prioritizing WASM support and developer-facing tooling, to reduce friction for browser-based dApps and desktop wallet integrations.
