I really like that this seems to be the last Python-written LSP for Python.

Last commit six months ago, 25 often duplicate PRs some of them quite old.

There are several reasons for that:

• We, i.e. the Spyder team, have very few resources right now, so we have basically no choice but to invest them in maintaining Spyder.
• The server is working fine for our purposes.
• Several duplicate PRs seem to be from Linux maintainers wanting to make our tests pass with newer Python or Jedi versions, which we don't support yet nor bring substantial benefits to Spyder. The others are either for small fixes or big ones (like switching from ujson to orjson); the former would add minimal to null benefits to Spyder, and the latter would require maintenance time that we don't have.

I really like that this seems to be the last Python-written LSP for Python.

This server is built around Jedi. Since work on Jedi has almost stopped to work on Zuban, and Zuban (along with Ty and Pyrefly) don't provide a Python API, the future of this project is really unclear at the moment.

However, I'll invest some time in the following days to merge as much PRs as I can and add support to Jedi 0.20.

That's all I can commit to right now.

Let me announce here COMPLETELY PRELIMINARY PRE-ALPHA JUST POC rope-language-server. Any comments, issues, suggestions, PRs are more than welcome!

Mmhh, Rope seems to be suffering the same problem as Jedi: last commit six months ago, two commits in the last year.

Sure, but I like the project, it is one of zombies I have once pulled out of its grave.
