ROOST Community Office Hours: October 9, 2026

[cassidyjames]

Tomorrow at 1830 UTC (in ~22 hours!) we have our first ROOST Community Office hours! You are invited to join the ROOST community to meet and chat with fellow contributors and T&S professionals, discuss cross-project topics, and learn about all things ROOST.

As a reminder, you can also subscribe to the ROOST Community Calendar to get notifications for this and other open ROOST events.

We hope to see you there!

Proposed agenda

Intro to ROOST + ROOSTers

• Cassidy
• Juliet
• Juan
• Mariana
• …and more!

What are office hours for?

• We're currently fairly project-centric with Coop and Osprey (and Pigeon 👀): each have a GitHub repo + Discord channel
• As we iterate and grow, there's an increased desire and need for:
  • more coordination between projects
  • bigger picture product and technical decisions
  • community ownership and steering of the community itself

Building a community: how we currently operate

• Open source contributor community; see: The Open Source Way
• community.roost.tools: best starting point!
  • Lots to dive into; you don't have to read it all start-to-finish, but it's intended to be a reference/handbook
• ROOST-wide GitHub Project board: intended to help with "where can I dive in?"
• Discord server: the "virtual office""
• Regular rhythm: working groups, office hours, livestreams
• Making a contribution: file/discuss an issue, chat w/other contributors, open a pull request, PR review/iteration, merged, celebrated in release notes—then hang around for more!
