Contact list does not render

Hello,

thank you so much for this, I have switched to Linux 1-2 years ago and since then missed using eM Client. All my attempts to run it failed but now I use it daily again and it works quite well!

One issue I have it that the contact list is not rendered, instead the area is marked with a red cross like this:

I think I had a similar issue once when trying to add contacts as email recipients but this works now.

Any ideas? I am using UMU-Proton-9.0-4e runner currently.

Hey @stieler-it thanks for letting me know. The good news is there's now an even better repo for eM Client on Linux at https://github.com/Chinchilla-Software-Com/em-client-wine-port
It's currently targeting use within Crossover but I did test and easily got it working on wine without using Crossover. I'm likely going to try and collaborate with them to get more wineprefix support added and then archive this repo as em-client-wine-port has way better support for eM Client.

I'd be keen to hear if this is still an issue on that repo as I wasn't able to replicate what you're experiencing.

Thanks for the hint, the approach looks promising!
I patched the install file the provide and most of it worked with a fresh Lutris install. I have the impression that the Splash screen looks already a little better (no font artifacts). However, the contact list also fails to render. And, I recently found out, even my mail list fails to render if it contains certaiin mails (still have to find out what it is exactly - I would guess it has to be a strange and unusual character).

What language is your eMClient set to?

I use eM Client in German. This seems to work quite well in general, the problem seems to be in some of the data. When one of my customers sends an email and eM Client wants to show it in the inbox, the list cannot render and it is broken until restart. If I move this mail (using my Smartphone) to a IMAP folder, then open eM Client again, the list renders without an issue. When I click on this IMAP folder, eM Client even crashes. So this is reproducible however I have not checked what is special about these mails.

For the contact list, it can never render and it could be multiple things. Maybe because some contacts have emojis in their names which is probably not too common.
