[UI] Navigation and focus issues (screen flickering, jumping back, and opening the wrong movie) #523
When navigating the interface, I am experiencing several issues with the focus/highlighting and movie selection. It seems like the visual interface and the underlying app logic are out of sync.
Actual Behavior:
When navigating, the screen flickers, but the focus does not move to the next movie as expected.
Occasionally, the focus suddenly jumps back to a previously highlighted movie.
When I click to open a specific movie, a completely different movie opens instead of the one I actually selected.
Need to press twice sometime in detail to go back. Screen just flickering.
changed the title [-][UI] Navig[/-][+][UI] Navigation and focus issues (screen flickering, jumping back, and opening the wrong movie)[/+]on Oct 11, 2026
Disabled background backdrop fixed it for me.
My background was the media bar selected item and never changed, just made my ui to flicker when moving around.
In 2.10.0 the Home backdrop was blurred on the TV itself, which uses more resources to draw on some TVs. That can make the screen fall behind your key presses. Then the highlight lags, a press seems to be skipped, or OK opens the card that focus has already moved to. Since then the backdrop is blurred by your server instead, and we've cut other full-screen drawing costs too, including on the details screen.
I'm closing this as fixed in the next release. Once you've updated, please turn the background backdrop back on, and if the flickering or skipped presses come back, reopen this and we'll take another look.

Thanks for the report, @skosnore.
Before anyone can pick this up it needs a little more from you, so it has been labelled Missing Title and Missing Screenshot.
The title still looks like the template
This issue is titled
[UI] Navig, which doesn't say what actually went wrong. Titles like that are impossible to scan, search, or spot as a duplicate. Please edit the title to describe the problem itself, keeping the tag on the front:
[UI] Focus jumps to the top row when scrolling the Home screen[Playback] HDR10 movies play with a green tint on webOS 23[Seerr] Login fails with "invalid credentials" on a correct passwordYou can change it with the Edit button next to the title.
A photo or recording of the screen is missing
UI issues are very hard to act on from a description alone, and a TV has no screenshot button.
If the problem is motion, a flicker, or focus landing in the wrong place, then a short video is far more useful than a still.
Each label comes off automatically once that piece is sorted.
