Findings from an audit of the live site after the Publish migration. The audit report follows separately — this branch carries the fixes.

Crawling and indexing

  • Canonical tags, hreflang, the site map and every internal link now use the trailing-slash URL GitHub Pages actually serves, instead of the form it redirects
  • hreflang links are absolute — Google ignores relative ones, so the language pairing was not working at all — and declare x-default
  • The site map lists both home pages; Publish's own generator emits neither
  • robots.txt names the site map, replacing Cloudflare's comment-only default

Content

  • No page per FAQ answer. All 23 answers are published in full on /faq, and the 46 extra pages repeated them at 31–150 words each, unlinked from anywhere, sharing one meta description
  • Every page has its own description; both home pages carried the 25-character claim, in English on the German page too
  • The application schema is limited to the home pages, where it is true
  • The home <title> names what people search for; the hero claim on the page is unchanged

Rendering

  • The screenshot declares its intrinsic size and loads lazily, so the section below it stops jumping

GitHub Pages serves every location with a trailing slash and redirects the
slash-less form, so canonical tags, hreflang links, the site map and the
internal links all pointed one 301 away from the page they named. They now
share `canonicalURL(for:)` and `Path.directoryPath`.

- hreflang links are absolute, which Google requires, and add `x-default`
- the site map lists both home pages, which Publish's own generator omits
- no page per FAQ answer: the answers are published in full on `/faq`, and
the extra pages duplicated them where nothing linked to them
- `robots.txt` points to the site map instead of Cloudflare's comment-only default
- the application schema is limited to the home pages
- the screenshot reserves its space, so the section below it no longer jumps
The home pages carried the 25-character claim as their meta description, in
English on both, and the legal pages shared one boilerplate line. Dropping the
front-matter override lets the longer, translated fallback apply.

The home `<title>` is the line people read in a result list, so it names what
they search for. The hero claim on the page itself is unchanged.
The English title lists both platforms; the German one stopped at the Mac,
while the app and the page below it cover the iPhone just as much.
