Hello
Yes, I am currently using it that way but it is not practical and useful. Don't you have the option to add such an option to the settings section? I used a similar plugin before and it had the option to open a new tab in the background.
You could also use Ctrl + left click for this if it suits you better, but I think the middle click to be much more easy to get used to, considering that it is standard behavior for any link in the internet, supported in all major browsers. What makes it not practical and useful for you?

Such an option was available in SelectON before, but the behavior of the buttons was changed several updates ago for better compatibility with other extensions, along with the "open in background" option. You can read more about this decision here.

Hi there 👋
You can use middle mouse click (scroll wheel click) to open links in background.
