[Thank you!] Stepping down from Falco core maintainers #526

Closed

Description

@andreaterzolo

Hi all! I'm opening this issue to formally notify my intent to step down from the Falco Maintainer role.

It is sad to say, but over the past year, I haven't been able to dedicate the time and attention that this role deserves, so stepping down feels like the right thing to do.

Please feel free to move me to the emeritus approvers section in the relevant OWNERS files. Of course, I'll remain available if you need context on areas I worked on (assuming I can still remember it! 😂), so just ping me.

Thank you

What can I say? It has been a long journey, and I’ve had the privilege of watching the project grow and successfully graduate. This was my very first experience as a maintainer of an open-source project, and it's something I will never forget.

I’ve met amazing people along the way, starting from my team at Sysdig to all the external contributors we collaborated with. I don't think I'll ever forget the days spent debugging issues together, especially on my beloved eBPF and kernel module drivers (looking at you, @FedeDP ! 😉).

A special thanks goes to the members of the very first team I started this adventure with @alacuku, @leogr, @FedeDP, @jasondellaluce, @LucaGuerra, @loresuso, @therealbobo, @mrgian . Working alongside all of you has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my open-source journey.

Thank you all for the memories, the lessons, the shared code, and the shared bugs. ❤️

Wishing you all the best. Keep crushing it! 🦅

I knew this day would come, yet it's still sad 😭
I loved every minute we've worked together; we quickly became great friends working on the same OSS project. What else could we ask for?

Thank you so much for all the effort, time, work, dedication you've put into making sure that Falco could grow exponentially. Creating the modern eBPF driver. The drivers test suite. And so many many many fixes and improvements all over the place, I cannot even recall 1% of them.

Falco would not be where it is now, if it weren't for you.

Honestly, I keep asking myself the same question "should I step down?" But for now I am trying to hold on and still getting involved as much as I can in my spare time (at least just keeping up to date with core repositories).
We'll see what the future brings us.

Thank you so much for everything Andre! See you soon! 🚀

    Hey @andreaterzolo

I approved as many PRs as I could 😅

Very last thing: can you update your username here https://github.com/falcosecurity/test-infra/blob/master/config/org.yaml as well?

    Thanks!
