Areas (polygons) should be allowed to contain holes, e.g. a big desert polygon could contain an oasis; in which case a species there should NOT be coded as occurring in the desert.
@alexantonelli I've been looking for a polygon from a shape file, that has this property, as I'm not really sure how this is coded in e.g. QGIS. Do you have any data I could look at? @mfecalio has sent me one example polygon, but I would like to have some more examples to took at before I make any changes to the code.
