Compiled minimatch@9.0.4 CommonJS calls aborted instead of returning true for foo.js against *.js. Class method-value wrappers lacked CommonJS binding state; after resolving that, nested reduce calls inherited the enclosing map receiver and passed arrays to the pattern parser.

Apply CommonJS access in the shared member context, preserve nearer wrapper-name bindings, and route prototype reduce/reduceRight calls through the receiver-scoped callback adapter. Reducers forward the original argument list and restore receiver state on exceptions. Add 11 npm-independent CLI regressions that compare interpreter output, verify emitted IL, and execute the saved DLL.

Validation:

  • Release test-project build: zero warnings or errors.
  • 346 related CommonJS, array callback/receiver/descriptor, feature-gating, and context-factory tests passed.
  • Both RealPackageSmokeTests.Minimatch_Compiled and Minimatch_Interpreter passed separately with the Windows npm launcher PATH supplied explicitly.
  • Pinned minimatch package-name and direct CommonJS entry checks match Node/interpreter output; both saved DLLs pass --verify and return the expected match results.
  • Borrowed reducer boundary checks match Node for getters, holes, original receiver identity, strict callback this, omitted/undefined initial values, and missing callbacks.
  • Core CI partition discovery verified all 47,734 entries are assigned exactly once. git diff --check passed.

Fixes #57.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Corrected how CommonJS module.exports, exports, and require behave when local variables or class members use the same names.
    • Improved reduce and reduceRight behavior in nested callbacks, including restoring the outer callback context after an error.
    • Added coverage for these scenarios in both interpreted and compiled execution.

Walkthrough

Compiled CommonJS binding resolution now checks for local bindings before using CommonJS intrinsics. Array reducer methods now use reducer-specific callback adaptation. Integration tests cover CommonJS class bindings and nested reducer receiver behavior in the interpreter and compiled executable.

Change: Bug fix

Merge Risk: Low · up to 930f9

The reducer fix has a bounded coverage gap: its exception test would pass without receiver restoration. Additional adapter-level coverage is appropriate follow-up; no new runtime failure was established.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title names the compiled minimatch CommonJS acceptance problem, which is the main objective of PR #3495 and linked issue #57. The changeset covers CommonJS binding access for class member contexts and a receiver-scoped reduce/reduceRight adapter, both of which the author links to this failure. The title is specific and accurate, though it does not name the reduce or class-binding fixes.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Issue #57 requires compiled execution of minimatch@9.0.4's CommonJS entry to return true for minimatch('foo.js', '*.js') and false for a nonmatching pattern. The PR applies CommonJS state to module-member contexts, preserves CommonJS bindings in class-member wrappers, and fixes nested reduce and reduceRight receiver handling. The reported compiled minimatch checks and CLI regressions verify the required interpreter and compiled behavior, including emitted IL and saved-DLL execution.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The changed compiler paths support the CommonJS binding and array-receiver failures described by issue #57. The reducer adapter changes address the nested reducer failure exposed by the same compiled CommonJS execution. The added tests verify these paths and do not demonstrate unrelated product changes.

Module-scope require replacements still lower to CommonJS imports.

HasCjsLocalBinding does not check module-scope bindings in class method bodies. A module-scope var require = ... therefore still reaches the literal require('./x') lowering. The call returns the dependency's exports instead of the value the replacement returns. Exclude module-scope replacements from this lowering, and keep the createRequire placeholder path.

Cover the reducer adapter's exception-path receiver restore.

The NestedReduceRestoresTheOuterReceiverAfterAnException test checks only that the program recovers from the reducer exception. Its expected output does not depend on the finally restore, so removing that restore leaves the test passing. The test name describes a restore that no assertion checks.

A direct probe.map(...) call after the catch does not isolate the restore. The call stages its own receiver before the helper reads the slot, so the result is true with or without the restore. If the call does not stage, the helper reads the restored outer receiver and returns false. Neither outcome tests the restore.

Add coverage at the adapter boundary. Options include an emitted-IL check of the exception region or a runtime test that exercises the adapter directly. If that coverage is not added, rename the test to describe only what its assertions check.

Bind CommonJS exports and require inside nested async arrows.

A nested async arrow in a CommonJS module does not receive the module's CommonJS state. Its context lacks the CommonJS exports field and the module resolver. Inside such an arrow, a read of exports evaluates to null. A literal require(...) call skips CommonJS resolution and calls null. Code that reads exports or calls require in the arrow fails at runtime.

Apply two changes:

  • In CreateNestedAsyncArrowContext, call ApplyCommonJsModuleAccess on the returned context. The member factory uses the same helper. Copying a subset of its fields leaves some CommonJS members unset.
  • In the async-arrow EmitVariable override, call TryEmitCjsVariable before the global fallback. This matches the base variable path.
Suggested fix

         if (_builder.StandaloneCaptureFields.TryGetValue(name, out var standaloneField))
         {
             AsyncArrowStorageAccess.StateMachineField(standaloneField).EmitLoad(_il);
             SetStackUnknown();
             return;
         }

+ // CommonJS exports and module bindings, resolved as in the base variable path.

+        {
+            SetStackUnknown();
