fix(agno): end the stream span when the caller stops reading early - #4668
AgnoStream (packages/opentelemetry-instrumentation-agno/opentelemetry/instrumentation/agno/streaming.py:142) ends the span only on StopIteration or an error. A break out of for event in agent.run(..., stream=True) or a close() never gets there, so the span is never exported. Bedrock's _ConverseStreamCloser guarantees span.end() on an early break. No issue exists for this.
__iter__ is now a generator whose finally ends the span, as in Bedrock. New close() and aclose() end it too.
Verification
# packages/opentelemetry-instrumentation-agno, venv from `uv sync --frozen --all-groups`, base 8d9c93f, agno 2.4.7
$ python -m pytest tests -q
13 passed, 692 warnings # base: 10 passed; +3 in tests/test_streaming_early_exit.py
$ python -m pytest tests -q # streaming.py reverted, tests kept
3 failed, 10 passed # break, close, aclose: assert [] == ['agno.agent.test']
$ ruff check . # ruff 0.14.11
All checks passed!
# not run: a live model; the tests wrap a plain generator in the real AgnoStream
AgnoAsyncStream.__aiter__ still returns itself, so an async for that breaks without aclose() leaves it open; an async-generator __aiter__, as in Bedrock, would close it.
I have added tests that cover my changes.
If adding a new instrumentation or changing an existing one, I've added screenshots from some observability platform showing the change.
No screenshot: the tests above show when the span ends.
PR name follows conventional commits format: feat(instrumentation): ... or fix(instrumentation): ....
(If applicable) I have updated the documentation accordingly.
Not applicable: no documented behaviour changes.
@doronkopit5, an early exit reuses _complete_instrumentation, so the span ends as OK. I plan to leave it Unset as Bedrock does, since early exit is not an error. Do you prefer OK?
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Synchronous and asynchronous streaming now complete associated telemetry spans when iteration ends early or a stream is explicitly closed.
Closing a stream also closes the underlying stream when supported.
Errors raised during stream cleanup are propagated and recorded in the completed span, including an error status and exception details.

Walkthrough
The Agno stream wrappers now complete instrumentation after early iteration exit or explicit closure. They close the wrapped stream when it supports the matching close method. Close errors are recorded and re-raised. Tests cover these paths.

Summary
Stream cleanup and validation packages/opentelemetry-instrumentation-agno/opentelemetry/instrumentation/agno/streaming.py, packages/opentelemetry-instrumentation-agno/tests/test_streaming_early_exit.py
The wrappers close the underlying stream when supported and complete instrumentation after iteration ends or closure is attempted. Tests cover early iteration exit, explicit closure, and cleanup errors that propagate and set the finished span to ERROR with an exception event.
This change makes Agno stream spans end when a caller stops reading early or closes the stream. Breaking out of a synchronous loop ends the span but may leave the underlying stream open until it is garbage-collected. This is a bounded resource-hygiene gap and could be followed up. A rare next(iter(stream)) usage can also end the span early.

Close the wrapped stream in __iter__'s finally block on early exit.
When a caller breaks out of for event in stream, the finally block ends the span but does not close self.__wrapped__. The wrapped stream can keep its resources open until it is garbage-collected. Close it before completing instrumentation.

close() and aclose() ended the span with status OK when the wrapped
stream's own cleanup raised, so the span hid the error the caller got.
Route them through the same error path as __next__ and __anext__.
