Problem and value

Closes #1161. Main companion of #1162. After the bounded README removal and low-risk assessment were reported, maintainer explicitly requested both dev and main integration (2026-10-30). This applies only that same removal to current main, not promotion of unrelated dev changes.

Stability impact

Remove one complete EverMind/Raven sponsor row in each of four root README files. Preserve other sponsors and all website/asset/runtime/generation/package content. Retire obsolete Raven ordering assertion while preserving Supercode presence check; no permanent sponsor prohibition. Scoped test-value check supports retiring the removed display requirement; no complexity change warrants simplify-codebase. Five files, +1/-6, same change as #1162.

Tests run

Base e3920894b0f30db7d5fc7d7d4ece57b304c17015; candidate af570c0759444a39238159de3b5ec6ccf0f19c22.

  • npm run test:focus -- test/readme-showcase.test.mjs: 14 passed, 0 failed, 1 Windows-only skipped on Linux.
  • node scripts/check-release-identity.mjs: passed (3.2.0).
  • git diff --check and English README mirror comparison: passed.
  • Root README Raven rows removed; exact patch applied without unrelated changes.
  • Full renderer suite not locally run for repository-only display scope; final-head remote CI pending.

Visual evidence

Deleted complete table rows only; surrounding markup unchanged. Browser/perceptual review not run. No layout/CSS changes.

No release, tag, npm publication, deployment approval or unrelated dev promotion authorized.

📝 Summary

This change removes the EverMind/Raven sponsor row from the four root README files and removes its ordering assertion. The Supercode presence check remains. It does not change website sponsorship, assets, generation, runtime, or packages.

The reviewed range is e3920894b0f30db7d5fc7d7d4ece57b304c17015 to af570c0759444a39238159de3b5ec6ccf0f19c22. The inspected diff confirms those changes. The author reports 14 focused test passes and one Windows-only skip on Linux, a passing release-identity check for version 3.2.0, a clean diff check, and matching English README copies. The full renderer suite was not run. No CI result at the checked head was supplied. Browser or perceptual review was not performed.

The EverMind/Raven sponsor row was removed from four root README files. The README showcase test no longer checks for the EverMind sponsor image and still checks for the Supercode sponsor link.

Explanation

The PR documents a focused documentation correction: remove one obsolete EverMind/Raven sponsor row from four root READMEs and retire only the assertion for that removed row. The description states the rationale, linked issue, current-base/candidate revisions, preserved sponsors and content, no runtime/package/website impact, and no release or deployment scope. It also records focused test results and the material coverage gap. The diff changes only those four README rows and the corresponding test; git diff --check passes, and the English README copies remain identical at the candidate head. No failure or rollback path applies to this repository-only display correction.

Full details: Validation Evidence

Explanation

Evidence is partly sufficient at candidate head af570c0759444a39238159de3b5ec6ccf0f19c22 against base e3920894b0f30db7d5fc7d7d4ece57b304c17015: the diff removes one complete row from all four root READMEs, README.md and README_EN.md are identical, git diff --check passes, and the candidate files contain no EverMind/Raven sponsor markers. The author-reported focused run has 14 passes and 1 Windows skip, and the author reports release-identity and mirror checks as passed. However, the changed test only retains the Supercode presence assertion. It no longer asserts that EverMind/Raven is absent for each filename, so the focused test cannot detect reintroduction of the removed row. This is a concrete coverage gap for the stated acceptance behavior. No browser or perceptual review was run; the static diff is proportionate because this is a repository-only text change with no layout or CSS change.

Resolution

Add a per-README negative assertion for the removed EverMind/Raven sponsor marker in test/readme-showcase.test.mjs, covering all four readmeLanguages entries. Then rerun npm run test:focus -- test/readme-showcase.test.mjs at the final head and record its pass/skip counts. The author-reported release-identity, mirror, and whitespace checks remain applicable unless the README content changes.

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Keep a negative Raven assertion in the README test.

This assertion checks only that Supercode remains. A Raven/EverMind row could be reintroduced in any README and the focused test would still pass. Add an assertion for the stable Raven/EverMind marker for each filename; the reported 14-pass run does not cover that acceptance criterion.
