Failed dependency update
Package: typescript
From: 6.0.3 → To: 7.0.2
Error
The update was reverted during Step 1 of the dependency update workflow. Bumping typescript to 7.0.2 breaks ESLint, which fails before any linting can run:
Oops! Something went wrong! :(
ESLint: 9.39.2
TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'Cjs')

This surfaced in update-outdated-deps:fix-pkg-json (which runs eslint --fix over the package.json files) and would equally have failed Step 2a (pnpm lint).
Root cause
TypeScript 7 is the native port, and its public API shape differs from TypeScript 6 (ts.ModuleKind.Cjs is no longer where typescript-estree expects it). No released typescript-eslint supports it yet — the current latest (8.70.0) still declares:
"peerDependencies": {
"typescript": ">=4.8.4 <6.1.0"
}
Note that eslint, @eslint/js and typescript-eslint are deliberately excluded from update-outdated-deps, so bumping typescript-eslint was not an option here either.
What was tried
- Reproduced the failure with a clean
pnpm install on typescript@7.0.2, ruling out a stale node_modules state.
- Checked whether a newer
typescript-eslint supports TypeScript 7 — it does not (see the peer range above).
- Reverted
typescript to 6.0.3 across all 35 workspace package.json files, reinstalled, and continued with the remaining dependency updates.
Suggested follow-up
Hold typescript at 6.x until typescript-eslint ships TypeScript 7 support. Consider adding !typescript to the update-outdated-deps:update-versions and list-outdated-deps exclusion lists in the root package.json so subsequent automated runs do not keep re-attempting this bump.
